Kai

There is nothing I care about.
No attachments.
No connections.
Outwardly, I’m a perfect gentleman.
Until my target sees my knife.
I fear nothing, not even death.
In my world, death is considered a privilege.
But my life comes with unbreakable cruel strings and
when I met her, I should’ve walked away.
I didn’t.
I was too selfish.
And that sealed her fate.
Because one week with me led her into the hands of ruin.

London

We all have unique layers that make up who we are.
What makes us vulnerable or strong.
What we fear and what excites us.
But peel back those layers and you’re left naked and exposed.
They did that to me.
Each piece was slowly stripped away then burned.
I merely existed.
But there was one layer they overlooked.
The most important of them all—the tie to one man.
The man responsible for me being this way.
The man who found me.
And the killer who would do anything to protect me.

Perfect Ruin is the story of Kai and London.

Nashoda Rose freaking rocks my world with her bad boy heroes that make you wonder if they are good, bad or just really bad in a good way!  Perfect Ruin is the latest book in her Unyielding series, and features the illustrious Kai.  His character has been touted as a BAD boy and one with a past that leaves you with nightmares and crawling skin. Although Kai's past transgressions leaves readers uncertain about where his ethics and boundaries fall, I just knew there would be more to his character.  Little did I know how right I would be, and so began my 3 day obsession with finishing this book.

London's character has been portrayed as mysterious and broken due to her time in the sex traffic ring.  We first meet her in Torn from You, where she is a sex slave that has been trained to be submissive and obedient.  Perfect Ruin is London and Kai's story and London's fight to blossom as the women her life experiences has forced her to become.

I loved so many aspects of this book starting with Rose's ability to show London completely broken and unwilling to fight to find herself among the ruin.  I was pleasantly surprised to learn about London's life prior to being placed into the sex ring.  Her story is so heartbreaking because readers can really resonate with the normality of her life prior to meeting Kai.  On the flip side, Rose humanizes Kai in a way that he hadn't been in other books.  Like many of her previous books, Nashoda keeps readers wondering what the heroes true intentions are throughout the book.  There are so many twists and turns in this one that readers almost have to pay attention to every single detail or they may miss what's happening.

Perfect Ruin is the perfect recipe of angst, frustration, suspense and love that borders on obsession and I for one loved every minute of it.  I'm giving this one 5 Sweltering Keys!
