Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne. My girl Rebecca Zanetti is back with Wicked Ride, the spin-off to her Dark Protectors series and I loved the first book. Since two of the Karys brothers mated witches, I have been a bit intrigued about their species and wondered if Zanetti would visit more that just the vampires over time and I was pleased when I read that she was going to do this series on the witches. This one features the Dunne brothers and their wildly cousin Simone.
Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…
First up is Kellach Dunne, whose a witch enforces for the Coven Nine and the enforcer for the motorcycle club Titans of Fire. His job was simple, embed himself in the club to find out the source behind the drug Apollo that is flooding the streets of Seattle, killing humans, and contains the Planekite mineral deadly to witches. He thought it would be simple until he met Detective Alexandra Monzelle.
Alexandra Monzelle is a police detective that is out to prove that her connection to one of the most notorious drug dealers to ever hit the streets of Seattle is just that, a connection. Though her father's crimes haunt her daily, she has made it her mission to clean the streets of Seattle and this new drug, Apollo appears to be one of the worst drugs she's ever seen hit the streets. When her investigations leads her to Titans of Fire and to Kellach Dunne, Alexandra doesn't know what to expect. Kellach is associated with known drug and gun dealers but he just keeps saving her life. Can she trust him? She will find out as she investigates his involvement with this drug and discovers he true nature.
Wicked Ride was exactly as the title described it....a wicked ride and I loved every minute of it. Kellach and Lex had sparks from the beginning and their chemistry was downright combustible, pun intended (*winks). I really enjoyed catching up with some of the characters from the Dark Protectors series. We get a visit from Dage, Garrett, Logan and are introduced to bear shifters. I can certainly see many different storylines taking shape and Zanetti expands her world of supernatural beings. While Wicked Ride can be read as a stand alone novel, I strongly recommend readers start with her Dark Protectors series because you gain so much more background information and prospective to the characters. I'm giving Wicked Ride 5 Crazy, Sweltering Keys!
I loved the Dark Protector book I read (Fated), so this will be on my tbr pile. And perhaps some of the others in the series. Thanks for a great review. Now I have some serious catching up to do. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, you so have to finish that series! Rebecca Zanetti did a phenomenal job with it and I was glad to see that she stopped it at a good point and moved on to some of the other supernatural species!
DeleteJust gave my wallet and Amazon account a good workout, and you're to blame. I like a good, not too straight-forward plot above all else, and Fated had that. Can't wait to dive back in. :-)
DeleteLOL! Welcome to the club. Amazon and Ibooks own me! My one saving grace is that with ebooks, I can totally hide the extent of my obsession from the hubby! Happy reading. Please drop us a line and let us know what you think.
DeleteP.S. Dage is book 2 and he is the King. You will need a fan my sister.....definitely a fan!
