Welcome back everyone. Today let's introduce Candis Vargo to the blog. We are featuring her new book Darkness Within. Keep scrolling to learn about the book and Candis.

About the Author:

Growing up on an old dirty road in the middle of nowhere, as a child Candis used her love for books as a way to escape reality (and her brother constantly trying to kill her—literally). She blames her love of all things Horror on being born on Friday the 13th and will always find joy in scaring her friends.

You will find a little piece of her in every book she writes. She loves a good happy ending, but most of the time she prefers one she never saw coming.

When she’s not writing or reading, she can usually be found chasing her children around. She currently lives in Rome, Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. And her fat cat.

Tragedy strikes the Roseburg family and leaves Mike struggling to help his wife, Mia. After losing their only child in an accident, Mia is far from emotionally distraught…instead, she continues on like their son is still alive.

Four months passed since the accident…

Mike begins to work with a psychiatrist to help his wife with her delusions when a darkness begins to haunt them. As this dark presence becomes violent, making itself known, Mike wonders if the illusion of their child that his wife is seeing is something far more demonic.

With the dark force looming over them, Mike is left questioning his own sanity as he tries to unravel what is real and what is not.

Soon he realizes…

Something is dreadfully wrong.

Darkness Within was a very interesting read. About halfway through the book I thought I had the plot figured out...dead wrong. This book has so many twist and turns that you need to buckle up. When you think you have the book figured out, just let that thought go because you may have part but not the whole. Heck, I'm still trying to figure some stuff out.

The story begins with Mia getting into a car accident with her and MIke's son Eli being hit by truck during a snow storm. We start to get to the meat of the story fast when Mike's sister, Cammie, is telling him about a therapist she met and thinks it a good idea for Mike to go talk to her. You see, Mike is having an issue with his wife Mia thinking that their son is still alive. The baby did not survive the accident. Mike is becoming frustrated and just short on patience with Mia because she just will not accept the fact that Eli is not really there. So eventually Mike goes to see this unorthodox therapist named Kris and somewhat unloads his story. She gives him the steps to take but then there is a hiccup. There seems to be a dark spirit in the house that Mike believes is trying to take Mia and is disguised as Eli.So now Mike has to fight the darkness and help Mia.

When Mike begins to get help is when all the twist and turns start. Just get ready because your nerves will be on edge by the end. There was this one part of the story where it's, I think Mia's birthday, Kris, Cammie, and Mia's parents are at the house. Their house is described as being very dusty and unclean. Mia's dad is very grumpy and there is an incident where Mike feels like Cammie is being mean to Mia because she won't talk to her and Mia kinda has a freak out. Everybody leaves the house but there is something that Kris said that made this think OK something's not right about this encounter. At that point, I thought I had the story figured out but the ending was an OMFG moment.

Overall, Darkness Within was a really good story. At no point, will the book lose your attention. Just prepare yourself to be completely confused. Believe that in this case being confused is not a bad thing. Darkness Within received a cool 3 keys. If you are looking for the sheets to be rocking, don't come a knocking. LOL
