Series: Moon (Book 1)
Author: Lisa Kessler
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Every
now and then you find a book that takes you by complete surprise,
shakes you up, and reinvigorates your love for paranormal romance. In a
time where hundreds of paranormal romance novels are published a month
you sometimes find yourself saying been there, read that...blah blah
blah! Well let me tell you, Moonlight reinvigorated my love for
paranormal romance and left me wanting more!
Adam is a wolf shifter, next in line to be alpha to his pack, and a sexy as hell rancher that trains horses. Infamously the playa of the pack and not one to believe in the legend that a true mate exists for all wolves. Well while on the hunt for a jaguar he scented in his small town, he comes across the woman that is meant to be the other half to his soul. Unfortunately, his mate is also a jaguar shifter and the sworn enemy of his wolf pack because of years of bad blood between the two breeds. Adam is faced with an impossible choice: betray his pack to claim his mate, or walk away from his mate to remain with his pack. Which side will he choose?
Lana has been experiencing blackouts since her 18th birthday. She has no idea how she ends up naked and alone with no recollection of what she's done on the nights of the new moon. The truth is not an option she has ever considered until she meets Adam and he reveals that she's a jaguar shifter and an enemy to his pack. He warns Lana to leave town but before the two can finish their little talk, men with guns show up attempting to apprehend Lana and take her to a top secret organization tied o her birth parents called Nero. Having been an orphan since birth, Lana has been searching for answers to her past for years, and hearing what Adam has to say finally gives her the vital clues she needs to actually get the answers she so desperately wants.
Moonlight rocked out chicks! I can't even gush on how much I enjoyed this book. It was fantastic, suspenseful, invigorating....oh wait, I said that already! Anyway, I'm naturally attracted to wolf shifter books ...hello Hawk Snow is my husband....so this one was right up my alley. The difference with this book is that I like the idea of a evil organization out to capture Lana to take her as a test subject. I liked the mystery even more, as there are several questions about Lana's past that are still left unanswered. One character in the book even hints that Lana still has family out there and at least one of those family members still works for the Nero organization. Even more interesting is how the ending will play into the overall storyline. What will happen next?
Up next is Aren's book Hunter's Moon and I scored an ARC from Net Galley! Yeak! I will be all over that one this weekend and will post my review for the release next week. If you enjoyed the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh, you will love Moonlight! The stories are not exactly similar but the heart of the books are the same. Wolf shifters banding together to protect their own at all costs! I'm giving this one 4 notes and 4 flames!
