Welcome Chick and Dudes to the tour of the Maggie Mercer Mystery.
Here's a little about the author:
Jill is the eldest of four children born to Christian parents in East Central Pennsylvania. It took a while, but the rebel within finally broke free. After shocking family and friends by enlisting in the US Army, then marrying--not much of a shock--birthing three sons, and getting divorced--again not much of a shock--she's now settling in, back in the great State of PA ... until the next adventure.
Jill began writing nonsense stories for her siblings and friends while in grade school, probably from the time she learned cursive. Her writing has improved. (A good thing.) With time, maturity and persistence, she continues to hone her craft in a variety of genres ... and at the urgent butt-kicking of her friends.
During the thirty-odd years she was 'away from home,' she never lost her love of creating prose. It was only a few years ago, she met another writer, and accepted an invitation to join a writing group. Not only did she make many new friends, she also learned more about the craft, and how to market her work.

Welcome to Mossy Creek. We’re small and easy-going with a lot of community pride and camaraderie. What we don’t have a lot of is crime.A close-knit laid-back little borough, so close to the southern border of Pennsylvania we’re almost in West Virginia. Townsfolk like to say: “We’re south enough to lend credence to our slight drawl, but sufficiently north of the Mason-Dixon to be ‘damn Yankees’.”None of us were prepared for murder … especially involving a teenager.
Magdalena Elizabeth Susannah Maria-Louise Mercer, whew that was a lot. Maggie is the dispatcher for the local police department is Mossy Creek. She has the privilege to have a front row seat to the beautiful Chief Madison. Every woman and man in town has a crush on the man but he has no clue. He does have his eyes on one lucky lady but I won't spoil that for you. Well in good old Mossy Creek a tragedy hurts the town. The Chief's Goddaughter is murdered. It is up to the three live crew, Chief Madison, Maggie, and young Officer Anderson to solve the case that has hit so close to home.
There are not enough words that I can express of how much I loved this book. I felt like I was Maggie living through all the mystery books I've read that can finally be put to use. I don't know what Chief Madison would've done without Maggie on the team to help keep his cool during this difficult time. See what happen was Officer Anderson was sent out to the swimming hole by Maggie to make sure everything was safe for the kids since school was letting out. Unfortunately, when Officer Anderson arrived he found Miranda Richards hanging from a tree. This is the beginning of a hard investigations that under-covers some unbelievable situations. The only plus side to this situation was that two people were finally brought together that have had a crush on each other for YEARS!!!
Maggie is all kinds of awesome that I wish to be when I get older. She is able to have the love of her pass away and show it's ok to move to another love. She totally rocks. Chief Madison is so cute. The lady his has a crush on has to tell him the whole town has a crush on him and he does not see it. Damn that man is sexy. Do I have to wait to get in my 40s and move to a small town to meet a Chief Madison? I will if I must.
Overall, Mossy Creek receives a sultry wicked key. The story-line is so catching that when the book ends all you want is to continue to book 2. Readers please prepare yourself to have book 2 available before reading book 1. It is just that good!
