Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins' ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben's the only man she's ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn't looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.Kylie Scott delivered the final show for her Stage Dive Series with the last book Deep, which features Ben the bass players story with Lizzy. While reading Deep was bitter sweet, Scott delivers a strong finale which left me wanting more but accepting all good things come to an end.
Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She's his best friend's little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he's not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he's always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible...but will it lead to a connection of the heart?
Lizzy and Ben have been circling around each other for several books and I was always intrigued by these two, but somehow never fully made the connection that Scott was planning to pair them up. When a one night stand ends up with Lizzy pregnant by the elusive bass player I really didn't know what to expect! A story chalked full of angst, anger and frustration was certainly quite what I thought would happen but that was exactly how the cookie crumbled.
With everyone in the band upset about Ben getting Lizzy pregnant, especially Mel, Ben must figure out how to do what's best for Lizzy and the baby without losing a piece of himself. Scott really allowed Ben to struggle openly with the decision to become a father in a way that I think most men struggle. Ben was unsure how having a child would impact his ability to be a free spirit. With neither Ben or Lizzy coming from a childhood with supportive parents, they are both scared about what their future holds.
In previous books, Lizzy appeared to be shy, quiet, and reserved. In Deep, she totally sheds that persona and readers are treated to a completely different Lizzy. She's funny, snarky, and willing to do just about anything to get and keep Ben's attention. At times, I felt like her character was a bit desperate and I wanted her to put herself first but Scott weaves their storyline into something beautiful.
I loved every crazy minute of Deep and I'm really sad to see the story end, particularly because Scott reveals a little something something between Sam the band's body guard and Ben's hateful sister Martha. I would love to see how their story develops and what exactly is the cause of Martha's nastiness. Regardless, Deep is really good so I'm giving this one 5 Sweltering Keys!
