Disclaimer: A copy of this book was provided by Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.Nettie say.....Holy Cow, Rebecca Zanetti delivered a solid ending to this arc in her Dark Protectors series with the long awaited pairing of Janie and Zane in Marked! I devoured Marked in a day and a half, and all the lingering questions I gathered throughout the series were answered, including the ever present question of What is Zane!
Janie Kayrs has known Zane almost her whole life. He was her friend in the dream world. She trusted him. But that was before he kidnapped her, spiriting her away to an isolated cabin to learn what her dreams never told her. Like how dangerous he looks. How he got on the wrong side of the negotiating table. And how much sexier he is in real life…
Zane is a battle-hardened warrior, used to command and solitude. But Janie has drawn him from the minute they met. His need for her could destroy everything he’s worked for, but the risk is too sweet not to take it. They call her the Chosen One. But when it comes down to the questions of peace or war, life or death, safety or passion, it will be Janie who makes the choice…
Rebecca Zanetti being the master weaver that she is turned me upside down with Marked. I laughed, cried (many tears I might add), pleaded, died a little inside before sighing completely content with how the story ends. What I loved most about Marked is the strong sense of family and the comradery between the warriors. Given that Zane has presented himself as a potential enemy from the start, Zane and Janie have their collective families to deal with while also trying to figure out how to make their mating work. Even more is the ever present prophecy and the lingering issues associated with the virus affecting mates.
I won't go into details because the complexity of the storyline doesn't really offer any opportunity to fill you in without giving away the story. What I will say is if you loved the previous books, you will definitely not be disappointed with the ending. Even more, Zanetti gives readers just a small glimpse of what future arcs may hold when she spins the series off to focus on the witches. I'm giving Marked 5 Sweltering Keys!
Celie's 2 cent....Sweet Baby Jesus I want a Zane under my Christmas tree. This is how you end a book series! Rebecca Zanetti did her thing writing this book. Since book one, we knew that something big was gonna happen between Janie, Zane, and Kalen. In no way shape, form, or fashion did I think everything was gonna hit the fan the way it did. I am happy I started Marked on a Friday night because there is no way I could have put it down to go to work. Yes, be prepared for a sleepless night.
Since Nettie is not giving any clues about the story, I will. LOL. In this book, we will finally figure out what species Zane belongs to. We will get a vaccine to the virus!!!! We get a knock down OMFG fight between Zane, Kalen, and someone else. We get to hear about all the new additions to the family. There are A LOT of hot scenes between Zane and Janie!!!! Trust me, you will want a Zane for Christmas. Heck I would be happy to blink and Zane just appears. Goodness that dude is like sex walking.
Marked is getting 5 Sweltering Keys. Rebecca Zanetti put her foot in this book because it was AWESOME! I am interested to see how the spin-off series will be since we know it will feature the witches.
