Title: Tamed
Series: Dark Protectors, Book 6.5
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 Notes and 5 Flames
Glimpse My Thoughts: Rebecca Zanetti has made it to the Top 5 for my favorite Paranormal Romance authors. She just keeps outdoing herself with the Dark Protector series. Caleb and Lilly's book was everything I hoped. It gives readers a great opportunity to catch up on what's happening in the Realm before Janie's book is released later this year! Well done Ms. Zanetti!
Goodreads Synopsis:
Caleb Donovan was never meant to be a prophet. At heart he's a conqueror, his appetites far more carnal than spiritual. He's not inclined to repress his passions and surrender to fate. After all, that's what cost him Lily—three centuries ago. She married another, because it was ordained. Now that he's in the same benighted calling—and forced into proximity with her—all the old desires are roaring back to life. . .
After widowhood and centuries of celibacy, Lily is eager to explore the wild side of life, except now she's vulnerable to another forced relationship, with an enemy. But this time she's determined to choose her own path. And if hot, furious Caleb comes charging to the rescue, it might just change both their destinies. .
Tamed was a great addition to the Dark Protector's series by Rebecca Zanetti. Readers were given some insight into the timeframe leading up to the peace talks between all supernatural leaders. Zanetti, as always, does an excellent job of foreshadowing glimpses of the future and giving readers something to look forward to. Even more, readers are treated to a new unexpected villain in this book that seems to be interfering with the prophet's ability to clearly see the direction they are suppose to take. At the heart of this confusion is Lily, who is given two choices that are both near and dear to her and having to chose either might very well destroy her future.
I really enjoyed Caleb and Lilly's courting. Having had a brief relationship centuries ago, these two are no strangers to one another, however because their past relationship was so brief, they never really had the opportunity to explore their compatibility. The sexual tension between Caleb and Lily has been building over several books so it was no surprise that these two burnt up the pages. What was surprising however, was Lily's emergence as a firecracker with a temper that could rival Queen Emma's temper!
Overall Tamed was a solid read that had some twists and turns, but mostly left me dying to get my hands on Janie's book to see what happens next. While the reveal of the villain was anticlimactic, it was a surprise so I consider it a success. If you have enjoyed the other books in the series, don't skip Tamed just because it's a novella. It serves as a transition book to Marked (Janie & Zane's book) which releases December 22, 2014. I'm giving this one 4 notes and 5 flames!
