Title: My Life as a White Trash Zombie
Series: White Trash Zombie (Book 1)
Author: Diana Rowland
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 3 Notes
Goodreads Synopsis:
Angel Crawford is a loser.
Living
with her alcoholic deadbeat dad in the swamps of southern Louisiana,
she's a high school dropout with a pill habit and a criminal record
who's been fired from more crap jobs than she can count. Now on
probation for a felony, it seems that Angel will never pull herself out
of the downward spiral her life has taken.
That is, until the day
she wakes up in the ER after overdosing on painkillers. Angel remembers
being in an horrible car crash, but she doesn't have a mark on her. To
add to the weirdness, she receives an anonymous letter telling her
there's a job waiting for her at the parish morgue—and that it's an
offer she doesn't dare refuse.
Before she knows it she's dealing
with a huge crush on a certain hunky deputy and a brand new addiction:
an overpowering craving for brains. Plus, her morgue is filling up with
the victims of a serial killer who decapitates his prey—just when she's
hungriest!
Angel's going to have to grow up fast if she wants to
keep this job and stay in one piece. Because if she doesn't, she's dead
meat.
Literally.
Book Review:
Don't let the book cover run you off. (Nettie can't get over the cover.) This was actually a good book. Looking at the cover, I thought it was going to be some gruesome zombie book like The Walking Dead but it's not. Diana Rowland put a new spend on how a zombie could be your simple grocery store clerk to the county coroner. For Angel, becoming a zombie was best thing to happen to her. She has a jackass boyfriend, an alcoholic father, and a dead end job she just got fired from. Not to mention that Angel dropped out of high school and has a drug problem. This chick couldn't catch a break until she woke up in the ER from being found walking down the street butt ass naked. LOL.
Angel left the hospital that night as a new person....literally. Angel's mystery zombie sire had her all set to start a new life by working at the county morgue and giving her the first taste of brains. It was funny picturing Angel working around these dead bodies not understanding why she want to crack their heads open and eat them. She had an inkling that she was a zombie but was not sure until she met her first one. It's interesting to see these two argue about who the brains belong to.
While Angel is trying to figure out the ins and outs of this new life there is someone killing zombies. Angel being the under dog of the group, is able to identify what was happening while the humans just thought there was a serial killer. Chick was able to make some street cred with the police department and make new positive friends. The best part of the whole book was when she broke-up with her dumbass boyfriend. That dude was an asshat. Anywho, this was a great zombie spin from the typical zombie books and I am looking forward to continue my reading. My Life as a White Trash Zombie gets 3 notes and no flames. Really do you want to hear zombies banging.
